140th Show Announcement

As part of this year’s spectacular Hertfordshire County Show, now celebrating its 140th Show, we are delighted to present a truly breathtaking display in the Jubilee Ring association with Gates.

Please welcome the renowned Waldburg Shires — long established and highly respected in both the heavy horse world and the art of carriage driving. Their magnificent horses are no strangers to the spotlight, with six of them entrusted to draw the Lord Mayor of London’s Gold State Coach each November through the streets of London.

During the show weekend they will bring you a stunning musical drive, featuring six pairs — that’s 12 powerful heavy horses working in perfect harmony. Watch closely as skill, tradition, and precision come together in a performance that celebrates the very best of our rural heritage.

You can also visit the team throughout the day in the Heavy Horse Village within the Farming & Countryside Area, where you’ll have the chance to meet the horses, speak to the handlers, and enjoy demonstrations up close.
