The Horse Trust and Herts County Show are coming together in 2026 to celebrate a remarkable shared milestone and their joint dedication to horses, agriculture, and community.
Taking place on 23–24 May 2026, the 140th Herts County Show will provide the perfect setting to recognise this dual anniversary, as The Horse Trust also celebrates its 140th year the UK’s oldest equine welfare charity.
While not a new partnership, the collaboration reflects a strong alignment in their shared commitment to improving equine welfare and promoting responsible horse ownership within the showing world.
The Herts County Show has been a strong supporter of The Horse Trust’s healthy horse weight management initiative, #WeighToWin, helping to raise awareness of the risks associated with equine obesity while promoting best practice among exhibitors and horse owners. The #WeighToWin programme provides friendly, practical support for owners, riders, and showing producers, while also recognising and rewarding exhibitors whose horses demonstrate the healthiest body condition in show classes.
As part of the 140th celebrations, The Horse Trust will play an active role at the Show, awarding #WeighToWin awards in selected classes, engaging with visitors, and sharing expert advice to help horse owners keep their animals fit and healthy.
Jan Rogers, Director of Research and Policy at The Horse Trust, who is spearheading #WeighToWin in tandem with researchers at the University of Liverpool, said:
